Announcing Tuesday Night League at the Bladium
We'll return to the Bladium starting Tuesday, August 12 for two nights of registration: August 12 and 19. CGVA is boasting its new ‘No Lines!’ registration process for this fall league. More details to follow. As in past years, CGVA's fall league at the Bladium will be a draft team format, with a limit of 24 teams. (See draft format explanation below.) The draft will take place on August 26th. For non-captains, this is an open play night. At the conclusion of the draft, each captain has the option to make one trade of a drafted player for one player on a different team. Both captains must agree on the trade prior to leaving the draft area. September 2 will be an open play night for all the newly formed teams.
- When: Tuesday nights, 6 - 9 pm, 10 weeks of league play, starting Tuesday, September 9th. No league play on November 4th (election day) or November 25th. The league tournament starts December 2nd, with the finals and league awards party on December 9th.
- Registration: August 12 and 19 only. Mail-in registration is also available! See registration steps below.
- Cost: $75 per player; including open play and tournament nights. $5 drop-in fee (waived if the league fee is paid on August 12).
- Format: Drafted teams of 6 or more players. CGVA wishes to encourage competitive divisions. Teams will be divided into the most competitive groupings possible at the conclusion of the draft
- Player Ratings: Every player must have a CGVA rating (using the 1 to 7 rating system). Evaluations for unrated playes and players wanting a re-rating will be done at the Bladium on August 12 and 19.
- Referees: Each team must have at least one certified referee. Referee clinics will be held at the Bladium on August 19 and September 2 only for players wishing to become certified as a referee.

What is a draft format?
CGVA’s Tuesday night league is a draft format. This means that all players are selected for teams by team captains in a private setting—that is, players are not lined up against a wall waiting to be chosen for teams. Players are selected by player skill and picked for teams of the same level to ensure fun and competitive play for all. This is a great way to meet new people and to play with other people you’re not accustomed to playing with.
Open Play Reminder
- Please use common courtesy. Courts are available for all players for all levels at all times.
- If you want to play on a court, you must sit at the net and be the score-keeping team.
- Once you are on the court, your team is on the court for two games.
- After you have played, you must keep score another game to be in line for that net.
- Open play games are rally score to 21, cap at 23.
- All of the above are subject to modification based on the number of people present.
- Respect your fellow players and have fun!
