WHAT IS A LOTTO DRAFT?

WHAT IS A LOTTO DRAFT?
We will pick names from a hat based on the position you registered for within your division.
We are starting simple this first season with a random lotto draft. Each following season we will incrementally add a level of complexity to eventually bring us to a full Draft style of placing players. Baby steps.
WILL I GET TO PLAY IN THE DIVISION I WANT?
Upon registrations you will be asked for your first and second position and division preferences you believe you qualify to play. It will then be reviewed by the Division Review Committee.
WHAT IS THE DIVISION REVIEW COMMITTEE?
The Division Review Committee is comprised of an anonymous group of seasoned volleyball players including members of the CGVA Board as well as veteran CGVA players.
This committee will audit known players and verify they are placed in the correct division. That means you may be placed higher, the same, or lower than your requested division.
This is our best attempt to keep the divisions as fair as possible.
Unknown or new CGVA players will be placed according to their registration answers.
WILL I GET TO PLAY THE POSITION I REQUESTED?
Based on the number of teams we can create from the number of people signed up, we will place people by their first requested position, then second. The last few spaces left on remaining team positions will have random placements.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ON A TEAM?
Indoor Volleyball consists of 6 players on the court. We will be placing 6-8 people on a team.
CAN I SWITCH TEAMS?
Once teams are set, they are SET!
This is your chance to get to know and grow your volleyball circles. Create camaraderie, build up each other, and have some fun along the way.
If there is an extreme situation you feel you would like to address in order to adjust your position on a team, you can reach out to us at volleyball@cgva.org.
To keep this process as simple as possible, we will not be switching players around once the season begins.
HOW ARE TEAM CAPTAINS CHOSEN?
Upon the announcement of teams, you and your teammates will decide on who will be team captain. Your decision must be submitted by the second week of games.
SPECIAL NOTE: Team Captains from this season will have first dibs on being a Team Captain for the next season. Each progressive season we will slowly add more elements to bring us closer to a full draft style of placing players. Team captains will play a leading role in the next season.
